Electric Storage Battery Co. founded (ESB). 1888
First use of Exide (Exotic Oxide) name "Exotic Oxide". 1900
First use and patenting of tubular plate. 1910
Purchase of Thomas Edison Industries.
(nickel iron, nickel cadmium).
1960
Purchase of Basic Electronics (charges).
Later became Exide Electronics.
1962
Purchase of the UPS business of TRW.
Became part of Exide Electronics.
1968
International Nickel purchased all stock of ESB in first "Hostile Takeover". 1974
Started selling the parts of ESB (Ray-O-Vac), Wilson, Atlas Minerals, Stokes, Medcore. 1978
GBC and Yuasa form joint venture to build motorcycle batteries in the United States. 1977
Exide Electronics is sold and now listed on Nasdaq. 1983
Exide Corp. (automotive and industrial) sold to private investors. 1983
Exide Corporation buys General Battery (GBC) and thus has joint venture with Yuasa for motorcycle batteries. 1987
Exide Corporation sells industrial operations to Yuasa.
This makes 2 companies:

Exide Corporation (Automotive) New York Stock Exchange.
Yuasa-Exide (Industrial) owned by Yuasa.
